General Information

Lilac Lights Azalea is a hybrid azalea that was developed by the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. It is part of the Northern Lights series. This hardy azalea is an improved form of R. ‘Orchid Lights’. Its rounded habit is more uniform and semi-dwarf. Deep, lilac flowers provide a brilliant display in mid spring. A touch of fuschia highlights the trumpet shaped beauties. Light yellow fall foliage. Lilac Lights will make a beautiful addition to your rock or woodland garden. Stunning in mixed or shrub borders. Can be used in large containers.

Rhododendron ‘Lilac Lights’ grows best in Part Shade to Full Sun. It will grow 4-5′ tall with a spread of 3-4′. Plant in zones 4 to 9. Tolerates some air pollution. Rabbit resistant. Attracts birds, butterflies and hummingbirds. Salt tolerant. Keep in mind that shipping size and height are an average of our plants and can vary by season.

Care & Shipping Notes

Plant in average, well drained soil. Prefers slightly acidic soil. Chlorosis may occur in alkaline soil. Good mildew resistance. Prune immediately after flowering to avoid damaging the next years buds. Pruning may be necessary to keep the shrub from becoming leggy. No serious insect or disease resistance.
