Description

Anthony Waterer Spirea

General Information

Anthony Waterer Spirea is a deciduous shrub.  It is a smaller spirea, growing to 3 feet tall.  It grows in an upright, rounded and dense overall habit.  The sized and ornamental appeal make it ideal for a variety of landscaping areas.  Leaves will emerge with a reddish tint in the spring, transitioning to deep green for the rest of the growing season.  They have nice red color in the fall.  Flat topped flower clusters grow in abundance from late spring to early summer.  They are pinkish-red in color.  There may be occasional rebloom later on.

Additional Information

Spiraea japonica ‘Anthony Waterer’ grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet, with a spread of 3 to 4 feet.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8.  Anthony Waterer tends to grow best when planted in full sunlight.  It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
