Ann Magnolia

General Information

Ann Magnolia is part of the “Little Girl” group of hybrid magnolias that was developed by the National Arboretum. This compact magnolia is slow growing with rounded habit.  Ann features large, showy, tulip like blooms. These beautiful, fragrant purple red blooms open in spring.  The hardy Ann Magnolia is a cross between M. liliiflora ‘Nigra’ and M. stellata ‘Rosea’. Ann blooms later in the season helping to prevent frost damage. Medium green leaves are somewhat leathery.  Yellow fall foliage. Ann Magnolia will make a beautiful specimen plant near water or any landscape. Excellent for beds, borders and woodland gardens.
