I’m very happy with my Allegheny. It’s a vibrant strong plant with flower buds already to pop open. I planted it in the ground, then it snowed. Can’t wait to see it bloom!Paul in NY

It was extremely important I got a healthy plant with a guarantee and Grimm’s delivered that piece of mind and satisfaction to me. Someone took extra care and put love into growing this lilac. It it about 2.5 feet tall, thick and as bushy as a little plant can be. Would buy over and over.Rhonda from VT

Bittersweet (Celastrus scandens) is a woody vine that often climbs and chokes out trees in its native range. Bittersweet is most often recognized for its brilliantly colored orange berries. This native vine has both male and female plants, meaning the berries are borne on some plants but not others. However, nurserymen have grafted the male plant onto the female so that one plant bought at a garden center will always bear fruit. Bittersweets can be found growing wild in wooded areas from Texas to Canada and from the Great Plains eastward. It is not an aggressive vine, growing only a few feet a year. In nature, bittersweet berries are eaten by birds and the seeds are then scattered to new areas.
Bittersweet is a tough vine. It can take poor soils, has drought tolerance, cold tolerance, and can grow in full sun or shade. It is a good vine for a sturdy fence, trellis, arbor, or pergola. The berries can be left on or clipped in late fall to use in arrangements for Halloween or Thanksgiving.
