General Information
The Winescrip Apple is a medium sized apple that is dark red in color. It has somewhat russety skin giving it a matte finish. It has a pleasant flavor with a good mix of sweetness and tartness. The cream-colored flesh is firm, crisp and juicy. It has outstanding full flavor. Winecrisp is a late ripening variety. Ripens mid october. It is excellent for eating fresh or for cooking. Good storage life approximately 9 months. It was bred in 1989 by the University of Illinois. Great for a home orchard!

Winecrisp Apple ‘Malus ‘Co-op 31′ grows best in Full Sun. It will grow 15-20’ tall with a similar spread. The Winecrisp is not self-fertile, pollinate with ‘Goldrush’, ‘Enterprise’, or any Golden Delicious. Plant in zones 4 to 8. This tree has good resistance to fire blight and moderate resistance to powdery mildew, but is somewhat susceptible to cedar apple rust under unfavorable conditions.

Plant in average, well drained soil. No serious insect or disease problems. Good mildew and cedar rust resistance. Woolly aphids may cause problems. Somewhat susceptible to canker, fireblight and scab. Not especially cold hardy. NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN THESE US STATES AND TERRITORIES: AK, HI, GM, PR, VI.
