General Information

Sunset Snappy Blanket Flower is a great plant that could work well in many different areas of your landscape.  This is a smaller size plant, growing to 16 inches in height and width.  Its compact size makes it a perfect choice to put in any smaller area that needs a great burst of summer color.  It works well in borders, beds, in a container, and works to great effect in a mass planting.  This plant is formed as a compact mound of foliage, with flowers on the stems above the foliage.  The leaves are long and narrow, with a slightly hairy texture.  They have a green-grey color, providing a great backdrop for the flowers.  The flowers are large in size, to 3 inches wide.  The center is yellow, turning maroon.  The petals are pinkish-purple at the base, and are bright yellow at the tips.  The flowers bloom from summer into the early fall.

Additional Information

Gaillardia x grandiflora ‘Sunset Snappy’ grows to a height of 12 to 16 inches, with a similar spread.  It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 9. They grow best in full sunlight.  Sunset Snappy grows best in average soils with average to low amounts of moisture.  Spent flowers should be removed to encourage re-blooming.  Butterflies are attracted to these flowers.
