General Information
Summerburst Goldenrain Tree is a wonderful tree that has many great qualities. This cultivar was originally discovered by Sunleaf Nursery in Ohio. This gives it great tolerance to variable weather of Midwestern climates, but has overall climate tolerances for much of the United States. This is a moderate sized tree, growing into a rounded symmetrical shape. The foliage grows on the stems in a pinnate fashion, with oval shaped, lobed and serrated edged leaves. The leaves are darker green in color, with distinct veins and a glossy finish to them. The leaves have a nice yellow color in the fall. In the early summer, small bright yellow flowers form in large clusters, providing a great burst of summer color. After these flowers, pink blushed, lantern shaped seed pods appear, providing another shot of color to this tree.
Additional Information
Koelreuteria paniculata ‘Summerburst’ grows to a height of 30 to 40 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 9. It likes to grow in full sunlight. Summerburst grows in a range of soils with average water needs. This tree has improved tolerances for urban and warmer areas of the country.
