General Information
Rough Blazing Star sports stalks of fluffy, rounded, deep, rosy purple blooms. Blooms in September. Good cut flower. When in the early growth stage this tall gay-feather is grazed on by livestock. The name comes from the button-like appearance of the flower. Nectar attracts Monarch butterflies.
Additional Information
Liatris aspera is native to the eastern & central United States. Grows in a variety of soils from silt loam to sandy soil. Rough Blazing Star prefers full sun. It reaches a height of 30 inches and width of 15 inches. Plant in zones 3 to 8.
