General Information

Hetz Midget Arborvitae forms an attractive dark green, globe shaped, compact mound of foliage.  It is a slow growing shrub that maintains its wonderful globe shape without pruning. Hetz Midget is a dwarf cultivar from the native American conifer. Good winter interest. Common Name: American arborvitae. Good for coastal areas or other wet areas.  Can be planted in containers or rock garden.  Good choice for near a pool or pond. Plant as an accent in a mixed border.  Excellent choice for a  specimen shrub in an Asian garden.

Additional Information

Thuja occidentalis ‘Hetz Midget’ grows best in Full to Part Sun.  It will grow 2-4′ tall with a spread of 3-5′. Plant in zones 3 to 9. Tolerates black walnuts. Air pollution tolerant. Deer resistant.

Care & Shipping Notes

Easy to grow in moist, well drained soil. Tolerates a variety of soils, including clay, as long as it is not dry. Water regularly, especially in extreme heat. Plant in an area protected from strong winds. Branches may be damaged from heavy snow and strong winds.   No serious insect or disease problems. Spider mites and bagworms may be occasional pests.
