General Information
Hall’s Honeysuckle is a great plant that could used in different areas in your landscape. This is a fast growing vine, that under optimal conditions, could reach towards 30 feet in height. This plant is typically grown with some form of supports, such as a trellis, up and over an arbor, on a pergola or winding along a fence. It could also be grown as a low, shrubby groundcover. The woody vines are covered small, oval shaped leaves in a medium green color. In the autumn, these leaves take on a purplish tint. From late spring until the first frost, this plant is covered in fragrant, tubular shaped flowers. They emerge in a pure white, before fading to yellow. After the flowers, small black berries can develop. The flowers and berries are quite attractive to a variety of birds and pollinators.
Additional Information
Lonicera japonica ‘Halliana’ grows to a height of 15 to 20 feet, with a spread of 3 to 6 feet. It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 10. It grows best in full sunlight. Halls grows best in fertile, well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture. It is tolerant of lesser quality soils.
