General Information

Fire Marshall Bee Balm is a great plant that could work well in a variety of areas in your landscape.  It is a moderate sized perennial, growing up to 36 inches tall.  This plant would look great planted in borders, perennial flower beds or any area that needs great late season flower color.  The foliage grows densely, giving the plant a nice, full look.  The leaves are oval in shape with serrated edges.  The leaves have a nice fragrance and a good dark green color.  The flowers grow above the foliage in the mid to late summer.  They have a shaggy appearance with narrow petals extending out from the center of the flower.  The flowers have a bright red color, with pink undertones.  The flowers are a favorite of butterflies and hummingbirds.

Monarda ‘Fire Marshall’ grows to a height of 24 to 36 inches, with a spread of 18 to 24 inches.  It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 9.  It can grow in full to partial sunlight.  Fire Marshall grows best in well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture.  It has good resistance levels to powdery mildew.  Overall, a good fast growing, easy to care for plant.
