Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry

General Information

Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry is a deciduous tree.  It is a smaller and very ornamental tree.  Its smaller size makes it ideal for a variety of landscaping purposes.  It grows in an overall rounded, multi-branched fashion.  The leaves are smaller and oval in shape.  It is dark green in color through the spring and summer months.  In the fall, it takes on beautiful red to reddish-orange shades.  Large, abundant clusters of bright white flowers in mid springtime.  Following the flowers, small berries form.  They are blueberry-like, ripening in June.  They berries are edible, great for jams, jellies or pies. Birds are fond of the berries.   

Additional Information

Amelanchier x grandiflora ‘Autumn Brilliance’ grows 15 to 20 feet tall, with a similar spread.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9.  Autumn Brilliance can grow in full to partial sunlight.  It does well with average amounts in well drained soils.  It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
